About The Client

Anglia Translations Ltd is a family-run translation and interpreting agency that works with businesses across the UK and beyond. Founded in 1992, the business is now led by Mary Gilbey, who took over from her father with a vision to carry the legacy forward, blending professionalism with genuine warmth and care. What made this shoot especially moving was having Mary’s father join us for the session. He founded the business over three decades ago and, though now enjoying a well-earned retirement filled with writing and travel, remains an integral part of the team’s spirit. Spending time with him, hearing his stories, seeing the pride in his eyes, added real emotional weight to the day, and reminded me just how much heart there is behind the business. The Anglia Translations Ltd team is tight-knit, passionate, and deeply committed to values like trust, inclusion, and quality. Whether working with small start-ups or global brands, they deliver not just translations, but clarity, connection, and care.

The Client Brief

The photoshoot was originally prompted by the redesign of Anglia Translations website. They needed fresh headshots and team portraits that felt modern, natural, and true to their brand. Beyond that, they also wanted storytelling imagery, relaxed, authentic shots of the team at work, the office environment, and founder portraits with Mary’s father, who started the business over 30 years ago.

This Anglia Translations photography session was more than just a brand update, it was a way to visually celebrate the team, the values, and the story behind their work. The goal was to create visuals that didn’t just show what they do, but who they are: approachable, professional, people-first.

Nate was an absolute star when he came into our office to get headshots and office shots of me & the team. I loved the fact that he really took the time before the shoot to understand exactly what we wanted out of it and made sure that he turned up on the day with a full brief and all the right equipment for the shots required. The team were not exactly enthusiastic about the photoshoot (who is?) but Nate was brilliant at making everyone feel at ease and in doing so he got some lovely natural shots that totally captured everyone's individual personality as well as our team dynamics. Nate is friendly, relaxed, engaging but very professional and efficient. He has a lovely way with everyone and was delightful for the whole 4 hours he spent with us. Not only that, we had a tight turnaround for the photos themselves and Nate went above and beyond to edit the photos and provide the finished gallery to us within days of the shoot. This was very much appreciated. The photos are now proudly being used across our socials and website. I would highly recommend Nate for headshots, natural office shots & all types of corporate photography.

The Creative Approach

This session was all about balance, professionalism with personality.

I brought in a full portable studio to create clean, consistent headshots for the whole team. We set this up in their meeting room, using floor-to-ceiling windows for soft natural light and flattering tones. The aim was to keep things simple, relaxed, and stress-free, helping everyone feel at ease in front of the camera.

But the highlight? The Magic Mirror Headshot moment.

For every team member, we created a two-part portrait experience: first, a formal, polished headshot. Then, the fun. Team members brought items, props or outfits that reflected who they were outside of work, their passions, hobbies, or quirks. Mary, for example, donned her skiing jacket and brought along her skis. Others brought books, and wine, all of which made it fun, and just full of laughter, pride, and joy, and it helped turn the shoot into something so much more meaningful than “just headshots.”

Throughout the day, we also captured natural interaction, workspace details, and special portraits of Mary and her father, a gentle tribute to their shared journey, and the story that continues to evolve.

This mix of professional lighting, soft natural textures, and deep connection allowed us to tell their story in full colour, formal, friendly, and full of feeling.

A Personal Note from Nate

Because every young performer deserves to feel celebrated.

Every brand has a legacy

Working with Anglia Translations Ltd meant capturing more than a business. It was about honouring decades of care, trust, and connection, and the people behind it all. The kind of story that doesn’t need embellishing, just space to be seen.

People first, always

Let’s be honest, most people aren’t thrilled about having their photo taken. But the team at Anglia Translations Ltd showed up with openness, and by the end, we’d created a space where everyone could just be themselves. That’s when the best portraits happen, no pressure, just presence.

What happens next?

These aren’t just nice pictures for a website. They’re brand tools, images that bring personality, trust and clarity to the forefront. I’m so excited to see how Anglia Translations Ltd continues to grow, and I’m proud to have played a small part in helping them show who they really are.
