This case study explores how I provided Cambridge Chamber of Commerce event photography across twenty two exhibitions, roundtables, networking events and professional headshots throughout the region.

Meet The Client

Key Deliverables

The Cambridge Chamber of Commerce needed more than event coverage, they needed a visual record that captured the energy, personalities and purpose behind their work. Each event brings together hundreds of businesses, leaders, innovators and policymakers, and the photography had to reflect not just attendance numbers but the spirit of collaboration that makes the Chamber so impactful.

My role was to build a long-term, consistent image library covering exhibitions, roundtables, keynote speakers, networking, awards, leadership portraits and the Chamber’s internal team. The goal was always the same: clear, engaging imagery that members recognise themselves in and the Chamber can proudly use across marketing, websites, reports, press and social media.

Deliverables included:

  • A full suite of professional headshots for staff, board members and event leads.
  • Comprehensive event coverage across 22 major events over two years.
  • Portraits of keynote speakers, mayors, MPs and VIPs.
  • Documentary-style reportage photography of networking, crowds, exhibitors and candid moments.
  • Venue and exhibition photography, capturing scale, atmosphere and branding.
  • A fully organised high-resolution archive of thousands of images.
  • Multiple crop formats for print, digital and social use.

The Client Brief

When the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce first brought me in, the brief was simple: capture one event. As the relationship grew, so did the ambition. They needed photography that genuinely reflected who they are, imagery that matched their professionalism, the diversity of their members, the scale of their events and the calibre of the speakers they welcomed.

What began as a single assignment soon became a long term partnership. Over the past two years, I have photographed twenty two Chamber events across the region.

These included Meet the Neighbours networking sessions, private roundtables with figures such as Darren Jones MP and Cllr Anna Smith, and large scale exhibitions including the Cambs B2B North and Cambs B2B South Expos. I also covered the Summer Drinks Receptions, the Monsters of the Sea event, the Safari Breakfast at the Haycock, the Women in Business Festive Lunch, the Cambridge Festive Lunch, the Networking in Partnership session with Taylor Rose, the Construction and Property Dinner, the Regional Dinner with the High Sheriff, the Sustainability Summit, the Manufacturing Breakfast and Tour, the Construction Summer Barbecue, the Dubai Airport Freezone Roundtable, the Key Skills Day at Anglia Ruskin University in Peterborough and the full set of professional headshots for the Chamber and its board.

Every event brought something entirely different. Some were intimate and focused on policy and leadership. Others were vibrant, high energy business expos that filled entire halls at Kingsgate Conference Centre, IWM Duxford and Hinxton Hall. There were formal dinners in historic buildings, business breakfasts, skill building events for young people and celebrations that recognised the achievements of local entrepreneurs.

Across all of these occasions, the brief remained the same. Capture the story. Show the community. Celebrate the people who make the Chamber what it is. And do it with professionalism, consistency and warmth.

We had an exceptional experience with 'Nate Lansdell Photography' at the Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce Meet the Neighbours Networking Breakfast! Their professionalism and skill captured the essence of the event beautifully. The photos truly reflect the vibrant atmosphere. Highly recommend Nate for any corporate event or gathering.

The Creative Approach

Every event demanded a different style of shooting, and that variation became the heart of the creative approach.

  • Large exhibitions required fast, reactive documentary photography, capturing conversations, product demos, energetic crowds and the natural buzz of a hall full of businesses.
  • Roundtables needed sensitivity and discretion, especially when photographing MPs, senior officials and private discussions.
  • Gala dinners and awards evenings required a more refined, atmospheric look, balancing low light with flattering tones and maintaining the sense of occasion.
  • Across all events, I used a dual-camera setup to cover both the big picture and the small details:
  • 24–70mm for environmental scenes and storytelling moments
  • 70–200mm for candid portraits, expressions, and speakers on stage
  • For headshots, I used a clean and contemporary studio-style setup, giving the Chamber a cohesive library of portraits that match across the entire team. The aim was simple, no matter the venue, the moment or the lighting, the images needed to feel warm, natural and unmistakably “Chamber”.

A Personal Note from Nate

Because in business photography, moments matter, and showing them with care makes all the difference.

Celebrating real connections

From bustling exhibitions to quiet roundtables, the magic of the Chamber isn’t just in the logos, it’s in the conversations, the deals, the laughter and those “after handshake” smiles. Photographing that over two years has been a privilege.

Consistency builds trust

By delivering professionally shot, well-edited, and brand-aligned imagery time after time, the Chamber now has a visual identity that matches their voice, strong, credible, inclusive, and forward-looking.

Where it's going

This archive isn’t just photos, it’s a story of a thriving business community, ready for next-year’s events, new members, and bigger ambitions. I’m proud to have helped capture that story.
