About The Client

Oak and More is a furniture and homeware brand that began life online as Oak Furniture Superstore in 2005, building its reputation on solid wood collections and long lasting design. In 2025, the business rebranded as Oak and More to reflect a wider range and a more modern retail experience, while keeping the same focus on quality and service.

The Peterborough showroom on Mallory Road marks a major step forward, giving customers the chance to see the craftsmanship up close, explore styled room sets, and get in store advice rather than relying on phone photos and online listings.

The Client Brief

Oak and More had just recently built there first superstore. Having trading mainly online, this was a big opportunity for them as they were centrally located in Peterborough and close to main routes to towns like Stamford, Huntingdon and even city’s like Cambridge.

They wanted a photographer to capture the Mayor of Peterborough, Cllr Judy Fox officially opening the store with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

However once we had discussed the brief, they requested additional time to capture more of the actual shop, as they only had phone photos and they felt that it didn’t justify the beauty of the furniture, the richness of the wood and clearly show the products as high end as they would like.

The Creative Approach

This shoot needed to balance two things. The pace and formality of an opening event, and the calm, considered feel of an interiors and product session. I worked in a documentary way during the ribbon cutting so the moments stayed genuine, then shifted into a more polished commercial approach to do the showroom and furniture justice.

Natural light was key. It keeps wood tones believable and helps the space feel warm and welcoming, which suited the brand and the way the showroom is designed. From there, it was about consistency and clarity, straight lines, clean compositions, and a mix of wide room scenes and tighter details that show quality.

I focused on:

  • Wide interior views that show flow, scale and layout
  • Lifestyle style room sets that help customers picture the pieces at home
  • Close details that highlight grain, joinery, texture and finishing
  • Confident event coverage of the opening moment with Mayor Judy Fox
  • A consistent edit so the full gallery works across web, social and press

A Personal Note from Nate

Because a first showroom opening deserves photographs that feel as considered as the furniture inside.

A milestone worth documenting

Opening the Peterborough showroom was a genuine moment of pride for the team. Photographing it properly meant they could celebrate the day, share it confidently, and have images that still feel relevant long after the ribbon is packed away.

Craft deserves proper light

Oak furniture has depth and character, but it only reads that way when it is photographed with care. This was all about showing the richness of the wood and the quality of the styling in a way that feels honest and premium.

Images that keep working after opening day

The best launch photography does not just live in a single post. It becomes part of the brand toolkit, supporting the website, marketing, and the wider rebrand with consistent visuals that customers can trust.
