About The Client
The Edmund Trust is a charity supporting people with learning disabilities across the East of England. Their work is built around person centred support, helping people to choose how and where they want to live, with services including supported living, residential care, respite, and community support.
They also provide community services for all ages and families through their operating division, Eddie’s. Their core values are Commitment, Collaboration and Positive Interactions, which is reflected in how they support people and how they celebrate their teams.
The Annual Awards Evening is a highlight of the year, recognising achievements and long service. In 2025 the theme was Togetherness, with the charity sharing that they received over 100 nominations and presented 29 service awards, recognising 10 to 45 years of dedication.

The Client Brief
The brief was to document The Edmund Trust Annual Awards Evening with a polished but natural look, capturing the energy of the room, the significance of the awards, and the people behind the impact. The story needed to include the formal award moments, as well as the quieter interactions that show teamwork and care.
The evening also celebrates awards shaped by the voices of the people supported, including nominations for Support Worker of the Year, which adds real meaning and emotion to the coverage.

The Creative Approach
This event needed a calm, documentary approach. I started with clean scene setting images while the room was fresh, then worked discreetly through the evening to capture real moments without interrupting them.
Awards evenings move quickly, so I photographed with a structured rhythm: wide frames to show scale, mid range storytelling to capture context, and tight reaction moments that hold the emotion. During presentations, I focused on strong expressions, clear sightlines and consistent framing so the key moments are instantly usable. Between awards, I looked for connection: colleagues supporting each other, shared laughter, and the Togetherness theme playing out naturally in the room.

A Personal Note from Nate
Because recognition matters, and people deserve to be celebrated properly.
Seeing what Togetherness looks like in real life
The theme is not just a word. It is visible in how people show up for each other, and that is always the story worth photographing.
The reactions are the real award
The handover is important, but the moments either side of it are what people remember. Pride, relief, joy, and quiet gratitude.
Images that keep giving
A strong awards gallery supports far more than a recap post. It becomes part of recruitment, internal communications, and the ongoing story of the organisation’s culture and values.
