The Client Brief
Webbs Motorcycles Peterborough ghost mannequin photography was commissioned to create clean, consistent ecommerce images of Venti branded clothing. With their usual photographer unavailable, I stepped in to photograph jackets, gilets, gloves, baseball caps, neck tubes, and trousers, all in a ghost mannequin style that keeps attention on fit, detail, and build quality, while remaining model free.

Diligently covers every point. Made us feel secure in his work and abilities.
Photos were on time and to a high quality. Will definitely want to work with this company on our next projectWebs Motorcycles
The Creative Approach
This session introduced a new service at Nate Lansdell Photography, ghost mannequin product imaging designed for apparel retailers. Ghost mannequin photography presents garments as if worn, but without a visible body, giving shape, drape, and definition while keeping the background pure white and distraction free. Large clothing retailers rely on this approach because it is fast to browse, brand consistent, and ideal for category pages and product comparisons.
Set up and styling
I prepped each garment on a dedicated mannequin, adjusted hems, collars, and closures, pinned where needed for symmetry, and steamed out creases. Labels and tags were tucked, and lint removed. I noted any reflective trims and texture changes to plan lighting for both definition and true colour.
Lighting and capture
I used a controlled studio set, portable on site, with large softboxes for even key light, strip boxes for edge definition on sleeves and seams, and flags to manage spill. A grey card and colour checker kept colour faithful, a circular polariser reduced glare on leather and coated textiles, and a light on the background ensured a clean white that remains within clipping limits. Each item was captured in consistent angles, front, back, detail, and any brand marks or fastenings.
Retouching and finishing
Every product was edited by hand for dust, loose threads, and minor creases. Where needed, I created neck and interior composites to complete the hollow look, refined edges, balanced contrast for texture without crushing blacks, and matched whites across the full set. Final delivery included high-resolution JPEGs on white, web-optimised files for the store, and consistent crops for fast page building. This workflow mirrors large retail standards, while staying personal, careful, and precise.

A Personal Note from Nate
Because great product photography should make buying simple, and the brand feel cared for.
Clarity sells
Invisible mannequin images keep the focus on shape, materials, and fit, the things shoppers look for first on a product page.
Detail matters
From stitching and zips to reflective and branding, careful lighting and meticulous edits make quality feel obvious and honest.
Built for scale
Consistent angles, crops, and colour allow teams to upload fast, keep pages tidy, and grow the range without visual drift
