Warranty First Case Study | Nate Lansdell Photography

Warranty First wanted to move away from staged stock imagery and anything AI generated. Over two days across their Peterborough office and two partner dealerships, I delivered more than 500 candid, natural light images that show exactly who they are.

Meet The Client

Warranty First is a vehicle repair plan provider based in Peterborough, established in 2014 and now home to a team of 75. They offer repair plans for used cars, vans and motorbikes at three levels, Dynamic, Premier and Exclusive, alongside B2B partnerships that help independent dealerships add genuine value for their customers.

What sets them apart is how they operate. Their plans were designed by mechanics and customers rather than lawyers, covering things many providers leave out, including wear and tear, consequential damage and the freedom to use any VAT registered garage. The business runs on a discretionary basis, using technical expertise to reach fair outcomes rather than hiding behind small print.

Their values, Transparency, Choice, Speedy Communication, Competitive Pricing, Knowledge and Approachability, are not just words on a wall. You hear them in every phone call across the office floor. Their tagline says it best: we make warranty work differently.

How the Project Came About

Warranty First found me the same way most people find a photographer in 2026, through a Google search. What they were looking for, though, was anything but ordinary.

The business was in the middle of a rebrand, and the marketing team had reached a clear conclusion. Staged corporate photography and AI generated imagery were everywhere, and none of it looked like them. Warranty First is a genuinely friendly, outgoing company, the kind of place where people actually enjoy coming to work, and they wanted photography that proved it rather than performed it.

The brief that landed in my inbox asked for exactly that: natural, authentic images capturing who they really are. No posing. No forced smiles. No stock photo handshakes.

We planned a two day shoot for the 20th and 21st of May 2026. Day one centred on their Peterborough head office. Day two took us on the road to two of their dealership partners, EAG Specialist Cars in St Neots and Binca in Milton Keynes, to photograph the trade side of the business in action.

What The Photoshoot Achieved

A Visual Identity Built On Honesty

Created a library of over 500 candid, unposed images that replaced staged and AI generated visuals with photography of the real people behind Warranty First, giving the rebrand an authentic foundation.

The Team As They Truly Are

Captured the one image the client asked for above all others, the whole team genuinely laughing and in their element, along with hundreds of natural moments showing the energy and warmth of the company culture.

Partnership Photography On Location

Documented real working relationships at EAG Specialist Cars and Binca, photographing vehicles, showrooms and genuine interactions that bring the B2B side of the business to life.

Consistency Through A Custom Brand Preset

Built a bespoke Lightroom preset matched to the Warranty First brand guidelines, so every single image across both days and all three locations carries the same consistent, recognisable look.

The Client Brief

Warranty First needed a complete visual refresh to support their rebrand. Specifically, they wanted:

  • Natural, authentic photography to replace overly staged and AI generated imagery across all marketing channels.
  • Candid images of the team at work across every department, from the B2C team on outbound calls to the customer service team handling repair requests.
  • Photography that makes people feel they already know the company, giving an instant sense of who Warranty First is and why customers and dealers would want to work with them.
  • On location coverage at partner dealerships, showing the trade relationships that have been part of the business since it was founded inside a car dealership in 2014.
  • One perfect image above all: the whole team together, genuinely laughing, engaged and in their element.
  • A consistent visual style aligned to their brand guidelines, ready for the new website and rebrand launch.

Three words shaped everything: trustworthy, approachable, knowledgeable. The photography had to feel like all three at once.

The Creative Approach

Two days, three locations, one rule: nothing posed. Here is how I approached it.

Natural Light In A Working Office

From the first frame, I made a deliberate technical decision.

No flash. Anywhere. Warranty First is a live, working office. Phones ringing, deals being closed, customers being looked after. Firing strobes across that floor would have changed the atmosphere I was there to capture and disturbed the very people doing the work. So I shot entirely with natural light, even in the darker corners of the office, adapting my settings and positioning rather than asking the environment to adapt to me.

The result is photography that feels exactly like being there. The team forgot I was in the room within the first hour, which is precisely when the best images started happening.

Candid, Not Constructed

Every image from this shoot is real. Nothing was set up, nothing was posed and nobody was asked to fake a phone call or pretend to laugh. I worked as a quiet observer, moving through the departments and waiting for genuine moments rather than manufacturing them.

That patience paid off with the image Warranty First wanted most, the whole team together, laughing, completely in their element. It is the photograph that sums up the entire project, and there is room to build on it in future shoots as the team grows.

On The Road At EAG Specialist Cars And Binca

Day two shifted to the trade side of the business. At EAG Specialist Cars in St Neots and Binca in Milton Keynes, I photographed the partnerships that sit at the heart of the Warranty First B2B offering, real conversations between real people, alongside the vehicles, showrooms and forecourts themselves.

Working in active garages demands a different discipline. I planned every position so I was never a hindrance to staff or a danger to anyone working around moving vehicles and equipment. The photography had to be invisible in the moment and invaluable afterwards.

There was a lovely bonus to this part of the shoot. The owners of both garages asked whether they could have some photographs of their own premises, and Warranty First asked if I would oblige. I was more than happy to. A small gesture, but one that strengthened the relationship between Warranty First and their partners, which is exactly what good commercial photography should do.

A Custom Preset Built For The Brand

Warranty First supplied an excellent set of brand guidelines, and I wanted the photography to honour them down to the last pixel. Rather than applying a generic edit, I built a custom Lightroom preset specifically for this project, tuned to their palette and the look the rebrand called for.

Every one of the 500 plus delivered images was processed through that preset, so whether a photograph was taken in the Peterborough office on day one or a Milton Keynes forecourt on day two, the entire library holds together as one consistent, recognisable visual identity. It also means any future photography can be matched precisely, keeping the brand coherent as it grows.

The Results

Warranty First walked away with more than 500 polished, on brand images covering their people, their culture, their services and their dealership partnerships. For a company rebranding away from artificial imagery, they now own a photography library where every single frame is real. The new Warranty First website is currently in build, and the photography is already being woven through it as the design takes shape. Once the site launches, real staff at real desks will illustrate the brand across the web, replacing the staged stock imagery the rebrand set out to leave behind.

Beyond the website, the library will support their marketing across Facebook, Instagram and beyond as the rebrand rolls out. The custom Lightroom preset means future photography can be matched seamlessly, giving the brand a consistent look for years to come. And the image they asked for, the whole team laughing together, genuinely in their element? Delivered. With plenty of room for more as the Warranty First story continues.

A Personal Note from Nate

Because great photography is about more than images, it is about honouring the people behind them.

A Team That Means It

Some companies talk about culture. Warranty First live it. The laughter I photographed was not produced for the camera, it was simply a Tuesday. Capturing that honestly was a privilege.

Photography Against The Tide

In a world filling up with AI generated imagery, Warranty First chose to show real people doing real work. That decision takes confidence, and I believe it will set their rebrand apart in an industry where trust is everything.

Partnerships That Go Further

Photographing EAG Specialist Cars and Binca, and gifting the garage owners images of their own businesses, summed up this project perfectly. Good photography builds relationships, and Warranty First understand that better than most.
